Having lost in the final last season, kicking off again in September was like going back to the drawing board. And I had that feeling again watching the second leg against Bayern. 

With such a crucial fixture, were we going to have to return to square one or not? My mind was racing back and forth. From Neymar hitting the woodwork twice within a few minutes to Leroy Sané smashing the ball just wide of the post, I was on the edge of my seat. You couldn’t take your eyes off the screen for more than a few seconds as Davies or Mbappé sprinted from one end of the pitch to the other.

With such talented players on both sides, anything could have happened. One moment my friends and I were ecstatic, we were creating chance after chance, then frustration began to grow as Bayern nearly scored. And then they did. My face dropped into the palms of my hands as Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting scored five minutes before the break. “This could be it. It could be over,” I was thinking. It was hard to stay calm.

But the team showed a strong desire to defend, while at the other end our attacks were denied by the post of the Bayern goal. Then came the final whistle; relief and exhilaration filled the air. The team had shown true passion and the chase for the title is on. But this was just one battle. We cannot rest yet.
